Thrive Jersey is an ambitious place-based platform bringing together the components for solving mental illness – prevention, best care, and people power. Starting in a small self-governing community, we seek to develop scalable solutions to demonstrate a positive shift in population mental health from cradle to grave. We are also leading a community-led suicide awareness and prevention initiative, in collaboration with government and mental health service.
How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?
Thrive Jersey is developing a community-led suicide awareness and prevention initiative in collaboration with government and mental health services.
What are your current priorities?
1. To develop a communiy-wide initiative to tackle the high suicide rate
2. To raise awareness throughout the community
3. To develop greater understanding of local factors linked to suicide
4. To explore overseas initiatives and build a strong network of expertise from which to draw in developing our strategy
What challenges are you currently facing?
We do not have any significant challenges currently. Support from all areas of the community is strong and there is a growing desire to increase awareness, develop an inclusive strategy and work together to tackle the high suicide rate that has blighted our small community for far too long.
