Strengthening support for young people: A cross-sector approach to suicide prevention
Webinar – 11:30-13:00 Monday 22nd June
About the webinar
Join this NSPA webinar in conversation with the University of Birmingham’s Institute for Mental Health on how to improve suicide prevention support for young people.
This webinar will provide an insight into young peoples’ experiences of accessing voluntary and statutory sector suicide prevention support, and how this can be improved. It will showcase best practice recommendations for effective collaborative care in youth suicide prevention, and explore with participants, how these recommendations can be best implemented.
Exploring young people’s experiences of support
This follows the ATTUNE Study which explored young people’s experiences in seeking and accessing support from voluntary organisations for self-harm and suicidality. Through in-depth interviews, the insights of young people with lived experience, voluntary organisations and statutory services across the South West peninsula and the West Midlands, enabled the Institute for Mental Health at the University of Birmingham to co-produce these recommendations.
Session format
The session format will be a panel discussion with members of the ATTUNE study team, followed by a Q&A. Recommendations will be shared in the session and the study team are keen to get feedback from webinar participants. They will be sharing insights with policy makers and practitioners and aim to influence policy from national to local level, to better serve the communities involved and improve outcomes for young people.
Webinar participants will receive the booklet of recommendations in advance and are encouraged to send in questions and viewpoints before the webinar. There will also be a further opportunity to ask questions during the webinar.

The session will be chaired by Jess Worner, NSPA Lived Experience Network Manager, who will be joined by our panelists:
