Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team
We are the search and rescue, crisis intervention charity that seeks to save lives from suicide in our local area. Our trained Chaplains are available every hour of the day, every day of the year, to reach out and offer support and hope to anyone who is suicidal or in distress.

Our work in suicide prevention
At the Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team, our vision is to help see the loss of life from suicide reduced at Beachy Head. We seek to save lives at Beachy Head, using search and rescue and crisis intervention to reach out, offering hope to anyone who is suicidal or in distress.
Our search and rescue chaplains are Christians from local churches and although we reach out with the love of God, we never impose our faith on the people we seek to help. We are available every day of the year saving lives.
The chaplaincy team patrol a high risk location and respond to emergency calls, to locate people at risk. We use our skills in crisis intervention to offer supportive listening, to start a dialogue, to encourage more hopeful solutions than suicide.
We believe that by receiving skilled crisis intervention support at their time of crisis, people in suicidal distress can be awakened to the hope that there are other ways forward to address the problems they face.

Our current priorities
Our current priorities are to reduce the number of deaths by suicide locally. We have responded to over 15,000 incidents since 2004.

Our current challenges
The number of despondent people coming to our area has increased in the last 12 months. This puts a drain on our resources as well as the local Police and Street Triage teams.
