High Peak CVS
High Peak CVS is a charitable infrastructure organisation that supports local voluntary and community groups across the High Peak area. We also run Bereavement Support Groups and the local social prescribing service.
How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?
As an organisation, our staff and volunteers directly support those that are particularly vulnerable, as well as supporting services and groups that are on the frontline of community action.
Our social prescribing service supports those that have mild mental health issues and could be at risk of suicide.
Our bereavement services support those directly affected by bereavement and loss.
What are your current priorities?
Our priorities currently involve:
– empowering our members to re-engage services and continue supporting their community
– campaigning and acting as the voice of the voluntary sector to statutory partners.
– linking the voluntary sector to health and social care.
What challenges are you currently facing?
We are seeing a dramatic increase in support needs across the High Peak, particularly around mental health, financial hardship, digital exclusion, and bereavement.
The mental health of our staff, volunteers, members and our partners is at heightened risk as well as those we directly support.
