HUMEN is changing the face of what it means to be a man. Leading a movement to improve and maintain men’s mental health. The HUMEN Space: the Gym for the Mind are non-clinical and anonymous spaces for men to talk, listen and connect on a regular basis across the UK. Providing a preventative and actionable solution to men suffering in silence and dying too young because we are all human.
How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?
HUMEN are providing accessible, non-clinical and anonymous safe spaces to men across the country. The HUMEN Space: the Gym for the Mind helps men to improve and maintain their mental health on a regular basis. We have also produced a series of short films that look at the struggles and challenges that men from all walks of life face in society, these can be viewed on our website.
What are your current priorities?
We are continuing to open HUMEN Spaces across the UK so that every man has a place to talk and listen on a regular basis.
What challenges are you currently facing?
We have men and women from all over the world reaching out to us to provide a HUMEN Space where they are. The demand is high so we are challenged with not being able to provide these locations with a HUMEN Space as soon as they request due to capacity. However, we will get there so that every man has the opportunity to improve and maintain their mental health on a regular basis.
