Leeds Arts University
Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England, our students enjoy a small, close-knit community, in a creative atmosphere where anything feels possible. We believe this is the best environment in which to grow as an artist, designer, musician or filmmaker.
How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?
Our staff have training from the Charley Waller Trust. Our student support staff have regular CPD relating to suicide prevention. We train students using the Student Minds programme “Look After your Mate” – We have newly updated our Suicide Prevention Policy in line with the UUK guidance.
What are your current priorities?
Developing and rolling out in-house suicide awareness training to staff and students. Ensuring awareness of the new policy and supporting our community to talk about suicide safely and with confidence.
What challenges are you currently facing?
Making sure that all are supported with training and development and the development of our own training materials.
