How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?
On Hand Training and Security Ltd provides a suite of training opportunities focused on awareness, prevention and intervention skills. We want to work together with other organisations qualified in this field, so together we as a company can be stronger, and can promote mental health more broadly.
What are your current priorities?
Our key priorities are the following:
– Helping people to understand and have the awareness of how, when, and where, to get help and support.
– Breaking the stigma through promoting positive cultures of well-being throughout the industry.
– Plan to support those affected by suicide by providing high quality training and sign posting them to services where appropriate.
– Mental health awareness training tailored to the need of the groups engaging.
What challenges are you currently facing?
Unless suicide prevention is prioritised and properly resourced, suicide will remain as a leading cause of death. We believe that more resources need to be invested into better mental health services. The stigma that surrounds suicide remains a key barrier, so supporting those in need allows improved provision for those in crisis. It is not an issue to be addressed solely through the health and social care sector, but through the assets of individuals and communities to promote wider responses.
