Scope
We’re Scope, the disability equality charity in England and Wales. We provide practical information and emotional support when it’s most needed, and campaign relentlessly to create a fairer society.
How does your organisation contribute to preventing suicide and supporting those affected by it?
Our services work with disabled people and their families across the country providing emotional and practical support.
Our advisers often work with people at crisis point. Every adviser has safeguarding training. Designated leads in each service have more in-depth training to provide additional support and guidance to their colleagues.
Our experience, training and policies help us identify when people are at risk, and take actions to support and signpost them to help.
What are your current priorities?
Adapting our service delivery, processes and training because of the pandemic
Maintaining the morale and wellbeing within our teams
What challenges are you currently facing?
The continued impact of Covid on disabled people and their families – wellbeing, poverty, reduced services, benefit sanctions and lockdown.
