The economic cost of suicide in the UK

This report by Samaritans highlights the economic cost of suicide in the UK. Samaritans worked with an Associate Professorial Research Fellow at The London School of Economics , David McDaid, to work out how much suicide costs to society. They found the economic impacts of suicide range from employment productivity losses to costs felt by the healthcare system, police and coroners. These are the first figures published on the cost of suicide in over a decade.
