Practical and financial advice within suicide prevention services can make them more effective

Researchers from NIHR ARC West studied the impact of providing practical, financial, and emotional support to men with suicidal thoughts or attempts. Traditional suicide prevention services often focus only on emotional support. This approach also addressed issues like finances, employment, housing, and welfare.

This policy briefing summarises the study’s findings. It shows that adding practical and financial advice to suicide prevention services can make them more effective.
