The impact of the cost-of-living crisis on different groups

‘The impact of the cost-of-living crisis on different groups’, was presented at the National Suicide Prevention Alliance 2023 Conference by Professor Ann John. Ann John is a Professor of Public Health and Psychiatry at Swansea University. She is a clinical epidemiologist with a background in public health and general practice. Her research focuses on suicide and self-harm prevention.

There is strong and consistent evidence that individuals on low income, who are unemployed or in debt are at much greater risk of mental illness, experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harming and dying by suicide.
