Suicide Prevention Consortium

About the Suicide Prevention Consortium

The Suicide Prevention Consortium is a collaboration between the NSPA, Samaritans, Support After Suicide Partnership (SASP), WithYou and people with lived experience. It aims to highlight suicide as an inequalities issue and influence policy and practice to address these inequalities.

We use the knowledge of our members and the voices of people with lived experience to influence policymakers to improve suicide prevention in England.

The Consortium was launched in 2021 by the Department of Health and Social Care, as part of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Health and Wellbeing Alliance (VCSE HW Alliance). The programme of work ran from 2021-25.

The VCSE HW Alliance is made up of 19 members from across the voluntary sector in England. It sought to improve the health and wellbeing of communities through projects and research to inform national policy development and delivery. It had a particular focus on identifying and reducing health inequalities.
